Senseless fun
Smoking cigarettes during breakfast
No reason to fill my lungs with nicotine
Methanol never tasted this crisp
My body reacts to my new found habit
I knew I was coming to this point in my life
If life doesn’t kill me
Marlboro will

A Talk With Kendrick Lamar
Locked in my room
Facing my fears
The wall’s bleeding pain
The world’s closing in
In a box
Without a hint of help
Left to make sand turn gold
Last year rocked the boat
Now I’m shaking with the waves
Passed out on the floor
Liquor in my breath
Called for death
But only God replied: divine revelations
My vision replenished
Tell me more, Lord
Fill me up as my soul rages
I only ask to see the next sun
For tonight has me caged without light
When you’re alone
Without the heat of friendship
Winter never seemed colder
Lost in the jungle
Thoughts going round about
Forgetting my name
A name that holds my destiny
Now back into my vision
Left rejuvenated with
a light before the sight of life
In my heart, a song sang
Voluptuous, as my heart picked up beat
Within me I hear, as my eyes clears away
From the bitterness of regrets
With my name, I remembered
With my name, I am anew
With my name, I shall excel
“Child of the sun,
Child of the your father’s spirit
Holding your people’s way
A voice waiting to be given out
A gift waiting to be given back
So fight the rage, it can never get worse
For every bad moment faced
Comes a lesson truly learned”
Sunset

Watching your body drift
Across the blue hue
The sounds of the crickets
Leap creaking noise into my reddened ears
As the birds fly back to your warmth
I see your shape: life full
Your eyes closed in a state of quiescence
Watching you as you undress
Your form: divine and crescent
Thick scent you bring with you
from the deep ends of the savannah
Welcoming all of us you dare to find air
Yes, I see you
In all your dappled yellow glory
Yes, I see you with my evening by your side
FEAR
Every day, I’m on the run
I hear a loud cry: hungry terror
I turn back and it’s nothing
Black, bleak, pure absence
I’m on the run
But I’m sitting comfortably
in a room full of walls: fear
Bricks encompassing all around me
Bricks I must surely break
I’m on the run from myself
Fear holds strong me by the throat
My breath shortened day after day
I see his eyes, that
Damn devil of the night
His void filling up my lungs
As the bridge goes further from my grasp
I’m on the run
Standing in my ruin
Hear me pick up pace
Heading for that cursed bridge:
Shackles, injustice, unfair,
Shouts the iron holding the bridge
I’m on the run
On the road, in a race
Struggling to hold still
Struggling to keep intact my voice
Struggling to take that leap of faith, that jump
into the infinite: the abyss called life
Who says the bold hold no fear?
I’m on the run
Though I see my goal
That line, the place I must be
Yes! My hands hold the tool
still I ask, “devil of the night, will you leave me be?”
I see his wicked smile, that ancient house
“Your soul or mine?” I ask.
“Your soul and mine,” he replies.
I’m on the run
Closing my eyes, hands clenched
About to take that leap
That deep long breath
Across the road, life awaits: she stands
“Take it and leave everything alone,” she tells me.
“So darling let me in, let me in
and I’ll take care of you,” she sings.
The Way Ahead
Speaking from a broken record
Hearts finding balance in
the warmth of fresh air
A collision of burden souls moving
through the path of one redemption
All guided by a voice saying,
“Our story has been found”
Now remains, the will, the way:
Peseverance needed for completion
A Talk With Asa
Brighter than the clouds above
The dove sinking mid-air
White feathers painting the sky: kind
There goes my soul
My spirit,
So gentle, so calm
Wings of my thousand seasons
Brighter than the clouds above
The dove sinking mid-air
White feathers painting the sky: peace
There you go
My bird, my spirit
See me through the years
Float with my soul
Fly away from here
Whiter than the clouds above
Washing away the night before
Dove of my father’s strength
Your feathers holding my mother’s love
There you are
A speck so beautiful
So kind, so warm
There you are
Gliding away from the noise
Peace on your wings
A speck painting the sky: kind
Dove of a thousand seasons
Fly away, fly away
Fly away from here
And meet me at the end
With your ever so gentle blessings
Paid Stones
Money is key to unlocking power
It’s greed compressed in tongue bites
Suppressing any light that comes close by
Souls have no value, when the king reigns
Righteousness herself is lost in this crazy dance
Tossed around while wolves lick bones
Cry and cry but it will be heard as laughter
The lines have been crossed
The skin and its fellow marks
Now it’s a race full of rats
All biting up the ladder while the sugar pours from the cups of gold
It’s an eternity when we strive but are stricken with disease
Hopelessly forgotten, the age of paid stones
Take their brains out, drag out the wires
Turn on the switch,
What do you see?
Man or man-made?
Pull the paper out from your pockets
Read the lines and ask….
“Glowing mouth, where’s your soul?”
“Tell me, where’s your voice?”
I don’t want to even know what’s happened to your heart
Who is God?
That legend of all tales
The one who has the key
To fulfilling living
Without whom we all
Have only darkness to bare
My father who made water out of life
Never asking back for anything
Only we give out love from within
Sharing out kindness without receipts
The world calls the peaceful, a fool
Better a fool in the eyes of man
Than in the eyes of our life giver
So where is God?
I only have to look inside
Where the balance of life resides
Only there, a talk with life may commence
A Talk with Marvin Gaye
The mind wanders
As birds to the sky
The heaven within
has most at peace
Troubles; out and roaming
Hungrily waiting for those that
like the taste of sugar
The mind wanders
As earth to the Sun
Souls all captured
in the eternal circle of life
Troubles; free for all
Take one and get two more
An endless cycle of recycled pain
From the feet of the Sahara boy
To the necks of the greed-full ones
The mind wanders
As water to an ocean
Flyin amongst the clouds;
Mechanical tears high above,
causing lungs to soak in death
Troubles lay on ground like traps
Miss a step and your soul is caged
But alas, the mind wanders
Flyin high, hoping to reach
the fountain of life: The well
That one safe place remaining
For those who still thirst
So drink up from within your soul
And do save yourself
For the morning will come
With it, the light appears
A Talk with Gil Scott-Heron
All eyes see the same
Though the mind projects
Painting pain to others…
And as disdain feels our lips
Words: fire, escape our hearts
Forgetting the run arounds of daily peace
