The Mighty Ones

Back and forth
Side to side
The force is pushed around
From the hands of wealth
To the fore bearer of soul
Though the mighty have little
The little is in the making
Every build, every mold
Makes the journey bearable

As the moon dapples
The wind throws away its weight
And the people smile
With the coolness
They ride through the night
Some on trains,
Others in hearts
Shaking, moving
Orchestrating their paths with a wand and a voice
As their faces all glitter in this rhythmic night
They celebrate, jubilating
Beautiful steps they make, but hauntingly ever so warm

Nothing Can Stop You

Standing amongst the crowd
Distinguish yourself from the rest
Vibe and free your spirit
Hang up the bad talking
Naysayers lay waiting
For you to fall
Though they forget
Nothing can stop you from elevating to the skies

The world goes crumbling
But you go climbing
Time to make time
Cos karma lays awaiting
For you to grab
So kill it
Believe it
Cos nothing in this world
Can negate the good in you
Nothing in this fake world
Can shift the ground you stand on you
Believe it
Sing it
Nothing can stop you
You, yes you

Langa la la soul (Chants of the Voice)

sitting duck
sitting duck

Victorious, so we dream
In the shades of day
On the quest to remember
Hoping to acquire sense
Ridding the distaste from our tongues
Dictating the walk of our lives
We must turn the clock back
And see our demise
To propel, we must learn from the book
The survival guide that holds the message
No matter how much you vex
A tale has already been written in those lines

We have travelled for so long
The feet is tired, our throats are thirsty
Why? Because
We have already arrived
To the land of long term mentality

Afro Blue

It seems like when the wind falls
The ground collides
Meshing together to form a sequence
But it’s all a dream
When paths cross
Like eternity we seem to forget our past
In our time, we thirst for a touch
Gathering moments, sparkles they are
Faces full of smiles, forming a crying gong
Two hoping to connect
Relieving their life before the end
These two go on
Through the phases with a hold
They overcome and fight
Breaking their limbs
Crawling when hearts shatter
To pieces on ground
Guess our ways are the same
Too alike, but needed
In transgressions we’ll find redemption

Sibling Rivalry

It’s all in the blood
Pushed into the ring
Sweat pouring, jabs flung out
In a circle of hate
There’s a divide
In the eyes, when we look
There’s a union in the color
But why the confusion brother?
When there’s a reunion awaiting
Our cups have runneth over
Still the bridge is broken
As we walk, our sorrows pile up
Boxed into a circle
A ring of fire
Can’t you see drift?
The rift placed on us

Lately, the vex has subsided
Our time, to move out from the ring
Put down our gloves
In comfort, we’ll find the courage
In community, we’ll find the urge
To move on, past the vices that push us against each other

The Man Called Animal

I play the lottery
Never lucky, as my one and two’s vanishes
There into the production of mastered numbers
Another card, same story
I cringed the paper, free throw into the garbage bin
Walking on, thinking why I’m so unworthy
To receive the millions, my wants and desires
Nothing left but my empty pocket

The man on the street saw me
He was called the animal, I think
I wonder who looked at him and give him his name
Was it because of his worn out clothes
Or maybe his overgrown beard?
But in reality, hair is hair, as skin is to skin
He met me, looked at me
Saw me at my down times
With a voice, he asked “I need a smoke”
I asked why?
“My lungs need cleansing from the dirt,” he replies
“Here, take this pack,” I say
He says thanks and says
“Give me a flash light”
I ask why
“Cos I need the light to move through these tunnels”
“Here you go, take this flash light”
He smiles, and tells me I’m a good man
“How do you know? I have sin on my clothes
Don’t you see them?”
I see them, all of them, he says
But I also see your soul
That which you have repaired
With light, you cleansed your mind
Placed your soul in a zen of peace
“I don’t understand,” I tell him
You will one day

He never repaid me
I never saw the animal again
But I remember his words
I soaked it into my voice
In peace, I found those one or two’s
Not in papers
In my quest to live and find his words
The one he gave to me
So I say to myself
My luck has runneth over
For my faith is all I need
To receive, I will give back these ones or two’s
To the hands of lives who thirst
Not to systems that eat and never purge back soul

Stardust Memories

In my mind
I see the road
That leads back to the low cut houses
These shapes form a circle
Around, around they go
With people sitting on their front ends
Laughing, telling jokes
As the night passes through
The peace of a child plays on

In my mind
I wait for the day
When I will return
As a man with the smile of child

Once again
I will return back there
With the freshness of youth
Kicking playing along with the sand
Bananas trees all around
Mangoes fruits all falling down

Birds tuning on till they find their voices
It remains settled, my childhood memories
All in my mind, as the moonlight dapples on the zincs of barnawa

Butterfly

There she sat
By the hills of hibiscus
The little girl with the purple dress
Braided hair,
And a smile so wide
Recreating her day as it goes by
Her hands free from work
Full with sand
Chasing every insect that went by
Her sandals brown and loose
Marred with dirt
Singing lullabies of the incoming night
Laughing as her wings spread out
Knowing she was born to be free
One with the clouds, bright as the sun

Go there, behind the Sahara desert
Across the land of the big waves
Walk up those high hills
And you will find
The girl with the purple dress
Flying with the birds up high

Fever

Heads locked
There’s need for peace
Confusion all around
There’s need for love
In the vines and the crimes we commit
There’s need to burn soul
Let’s yearn for better times
These times are insane
No doubt
But we need to go back
Into our arms
It’s a shame we have fought for so long
We are tired
Haven’t you gotten enough?
Fighting all night through your heart
You’re bond by the shame
I know
So let’s get back
Into the source of our pain
Ridding our ways, free from comprise

The Usual Rhythm

We are on an adventure of a life time
We sleep so the dreams come
Beyond reality to find the perfect state
Losing control, the journey is far from incomplete
So head out and find your keys
Jingling on the railways
Before the train approaches, it waits
Formulating paths, ending all turbulence
